At this point, we all know Sam Herring of Future Islands is a passionate performer. However, you might never see him get more emotional than he does in the band’s new video for the Singles track “A Song for Our Grandfathers”. That’s because director Jay Buim shot the clip at a real family reunion in North Carolina where the band’s relatives got together for BBQ, games, and a private Future Islands concert.
Sure, Herring tones down a bit of his wild dancing antics (could you imagine going off like that in front of your aunts and uncles?), but all the power is still there. Those are real tears welling up at the end of the clip, and that’s real familial love on everyone’s faces. Check it out:
If you want to see more of Future Islands getting all the feels, you might want to check out their upcoming 1,000 show. It’s going down in Carrboro, North Carolina on July 26th and features Dan Deacon, Danny Brown, Ed Schrader’s Music Beat, and others.
