What Happened, Miss Simone? is the forthcoming documentary on the late jazz and blues legend Nina Simone, due to hit Netflix on June 26th. To coincide with the film’s debut, a new tribute album is in the works. Nina Revisited features 16 classics, including “Ne Me Quitte Pas”, “Feeling Good”, and “I Put A Spell On You”, as covered by Lauryn Hill, Common, Mary J. Blige, and Usher, among many others.

Ahead of the compilation’s July 10th release, Hill has unveiled her spellbinding take of Simone’s version of “Feeling Good”. Listen in below.

As Rolling Stone notes, Hill has a special connection to the documentary. Jayson Jackson, the producer of What Happened, Miss Simone?, once managed her and the Fugees. In a statement, the R&B singer spoke about the tribute LP and Simone’s lasting influence:

“Because I fed on this music, both hers and lovers like her, like my basic food, I believed I always had a right to have a voice. Her example is clearly a form of sustenance to a generation needing to find theirs. What a gift.”
