Pete Rock remixes Panda Bear’s “Crosswords” — listen

on June 25, 2015, 1:20pm

Panda Bear reworked Eric Copeland’s “Cheap Treat” just last week. Now, it’s the Animal Collective member who’s getting the remix treatment.

At the helm is veteran East Coast rapper/producer Pete Rock, who injects the Panda Bear Meets the Grip Reaper track “Crosswords” with a potent dose of too-cool swagger and bounce. Rock, who’s flipped tracks by Public Enemy, Yo La Tengo, and even Johnny Cash, is a master at seeing tracks in a whole new light. Listen in below.

Rock’s reworking appears on Panda Bear’s forthcoming PBVSGR remixes EP, which is due out on June 29th via Domino.

In related news, Rock’s latest instrumental album, Petestrumentals 2, is out now.
