Last year, Robyn teamed up with Röyksopp to release the excellent Do It Again EP. Now, it looks as though the Swedish pop star has another collaborative project on her hands: Robyn is joining forces with La Bagatelle Magique (French for “the magic trifle”), a new group comprised of her touring keyboardist Markus Jägerstedt and producer Christian Falk (his contributions are posthumous; he passed away in 2014 from pancreatic cancer).
The “Call Your Girlfriend” singer announced the joint venture via Twitter back in May, as well as unveiled their first tour date, Stockholm’s Dans Dakar festival in August. They’ve since announced their first US show at San Francisco’s Treasure Island Music Festival. She also directed fans to La Bagatelle Magique’s official website, which teased a snippet of new music.
Today, after much anticipation, Robyn has finally shared the group’s first official song, a massive conga-inspired banger titled “Love Is Free” featuring Maluca. It was premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 program and can be streamed below.
According to Robyn, the track is off a forthcoming mini-album due out later this summer.
