Stream: Sun Kil Moon’s new album Universal Themes

on June 01, 2015, 9:15am

Mark Kozelek will release his seventh album under the Sun Kil Moon moniker, Universal Themes, on June 2nd via Caldo Verde Records. Before it hits shelves, the entire album is streaming on Kozelek’s website.

The eight-track effort follows up on 2014’s highly celebrated Benji. Kozelek recorded the album between San Francisco, California and Hoboken, New Jersey with Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley on the drums.

Alongside the stream, Kozelek has shared an interview with El-P of Run the Jewels. The two previously crossed paths when they were booked at the same time at Fun Fun Fun Fest, leading Run the Jewels to start a chant of “Suck my dick, Sun Kil Moon.” They go through each track on the album, including the infamous “Cry Me a River Williamsburg Sleeve Tattoo Blues”, and also talk about the recent Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. Read it here.

Pre-orders are ongoing. Read Dan Caffrey’s review of the album here.
