The Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jr. shares new song “Losing Touch” — listen

on June 03, 2015, 10:30am

With The Strokes fresh off their first European show in four years, guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. is focused on breaking an even longer seven year lull between solo LPs. He’ll release Momentary Mastersthe follow-up to 2008’s ¿Cómo Te Llama?on July 31st via Vagrant Records. The album was previously teased with the jaunty track “Born Slippy”, and now Hammond has shared a fresh listen in the form of “Losing Touch”.

Unlike the shimmering guitars of the previous cut, “Losing Touch” drives down on muted strings. Hammond opens his fingers for the rousing chorus, however, letting loose a soaring slice of indie rock. Take a listen below.

Momentary Masters features production from longtime Strokes Gus Oberg. Unlike previous releases, Hammond called on the aid of a number of musicians for the recording sessions, including guitarists Mon Khmer’s Hammarsing Kharhmar and Bleachers’ Mikey Hart, bassist Jordan Brooks, and drummer Jeremy Gustin.
