The trailer for Eli Roth’s The Green Inferno is ugly torture porn — watch

It’s been a nightmare for Eli Roth’s terrifying new film, The Green Inferno. Originally, the cannibalistic horror adventure was supposed to hit theaters last September, but some financial mumbo jumbo trapped the film in a bamboo cage — until now. By the gods of the very Amazonian tribes this film harshly depicts, Roth’s spiritual reimagining of Cannibal Holocaust will hit theaters September 25th, thanks to Blumhouse’s Tilt, Universal Pictures, and High Top Releasing. Now, in anticipation of its bloody ascent, there’s a thrilling new trailer.

Here’s what you can expect: Gore, gore, and buckets of gore. As for the story, it’s fairly simple in that a group of environmental do-gooders find themselves kidnapped by a tribe of cannibals when their plane crashes in the middle of the rain forest. This isn’t Dances with the Wolves, however, but a healthy mix of the aforementioned Italian snuff film and, well, Jurassic Park III. Or maybe Alive. Or Six Days, Seven Nights. Whatever, there’s a plane crash, and all hope is lost and yada, yada, yada.

From the looks of it, though, we’re in for a disgusting thrill ride that should help satiate the fears of those who wander helplessly in the middle of the night, terrified that the torture porn genre has been shelved for good. Saw may be over, folks, but hey, Roth’s keeping it real for you all. Also worth noting is that alternative pop star Sky Ferreira is listed in the IMDb credits, which has this writer in a panic. If anyone does anything bad to her, well, I am just gonna snap.

But that evil jerk from 24 and Hostel II (Richard Burgi)? Go nuts with him. What a jerk!

In related news, Roth’s ridiculous, Keanu Reeves-led thriller Knock Knock should be out sometime soon, as well.
