Tool’s Maynard James Keenan calls out same-sex marriage opponents in awesome takedown post

on June 30, 2015, 2:25pm

When it comes to updates on their new album, Tool have kept their words to a minimum. In light of the Supreme Court’s landmark decision to legalize same-sex marriage in the US, however, frontman Maynard James Keenan has quite a bit to say.

In a funny yet insightful Facebook post, Keenan calls out all the religious zealots and conservative Bible-thumpers who’ve worked tirelessly to oppose the gay rights movement. “Maybe the entry level test was to recognize pure LOVE aka LIGHT, Infinite and without Judgement,” he writes. “And they all fucking blew it.”

Responding to folks like Texas pastor Rick Scarborough, who once vowed to set himself ablaze if such a same-sex marriage ruling was actually made, Keenan says, “PLEASE PLEASE follow through with your threats to set yourselves on fire. Soooo many problems solved.” (Of course, since the Supreme Court’s verdict last week, Scarborough has backtracked on his comments; sorry, Keenan.)
