Gallant shares heavy new song “Weight in Gold” — listen

on July 01, 2015, 4:05pm

Gallant resurfaced earlier this year after a quiet end to 2014, and his dazzling R&B tunes have been garnering tons of love ever since. In fact, Zane Lowe opted to introduce listeners worldwide to the LA crooner by premiering Gallant’s “Weight in Gold” as his first world exclusive on Apple Music.

The track is as thundering as it is glittering, dragging forward on pulsing beats and a soulful guitar before simply exploding into the chorus. Dazzling synth plumes up underneath Gallant’s powerful vocals, joined by a cascade of twinkling notes on later iterations. “I’m pulling my weight in gold,” he sings out to the universe. ” Call me anxious, call me broke/ but I can’t lift this on my own.” Lowe’s quality judgement has long been known, and here’s further proof the man knows his music.

Still no details available on when Gallant’s Mind of a Genius will drop later this year, but for more, check out “Talking in Your Sleep”, “Open Up”, and his cover of Foo Fighters’ “Learn to Fly”.
