Just yesterday, Jurassic World became the third highest-grossing film of all time, surpassing The Avengers with $1.52 billion in ticket sold. Today, in the least shocking announcement ever, Universal confirmed a sequel.
Jurassic World 2 is set to hit theaters on June 22nd, 2018. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will both return to star in the film. Colin Trevorrow, who directed Jurassic World will co-write the screenplay with Derek Connolly.
For Pratt, one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors, a Jurassic World sequel adds to what was already a crowded docket of upcoming films. He’s also confirmed for the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy along with roles opposite Jennifer Lawrence in Passengers and Ethan Hawke, Denzel Washington, and Haley Bennett in Magnificent Seven. Pratt’s rumored involvement in a new Indiana Jones film, however, remains unclear.
