Prince’s last piece of new music came in the form of “Baltimore”, written in tribute to the people of Baltimore in the wake of Freddie Gray’s death. His latest song, “HARROCKLOVER”, is another call to arms, but with a decidedly less serious spin. In this case, Prince tries to woo a potential lover with the assistance of some blitzing guitar licks and a few subtle jabs at other musical genres.
“Turn my guitar up/ So I can make this woman scream,” Prince proudly proclaims. “Ain’t no rapper trying to be a singer/ Come on, make a move … R&B ain’t got no place/ But put some hard rock on, you’d better cover your ears/ ‘Cause you’re about to hear a woman just scream.”
It’s definitely one of the more intriguing new songs from Prince to surface in some time. Listen for yourself below.
