Rosamund Pike and Jon Hamm to star in political thriller High Wire Act

on July 20, 2015, 4:50pm

Earlier this year, it was reported by The New York Post that Jon Hamm’s contract with Mad Men barred him from starring in David Fincher’s 2014 thriller, Gone Girl. Considering the critical and commercial acclaim the Gillian Flynn adaptation received, it’s understandable that the 44-year-old actor would be a little more than peeved. Time can often heal all wounds, however, and that seems to be the case for Hamm as he’s set to co-lead a new thriller alongside Amazing Amy herself, Rosamund Pike.

Both Hamm and the Oscar-nominated actress will star in Brad Anderson’s upcoming political action thriller High Wire Act. Written by Tony Gilroy, the film is set in 1980’s Beirut and follows a former U.S. diplomat (Hamm) brought back into the line of fire to save a former colleague from a group of terrorists that possibly killed his family. He’ll be joined by a CIA field agent (Pike) working undercover at the American embassy. Fingers crossed the field agent isn’t the one responsible all along.

Gilroy, Ted Field, and Mike Weber will produce the project, which aims to start in January 2016. In the meantime, you can catch Hamm next in David Wain’s upcoming Wet Hot American Summer revival for Netflix and early next year in Greg Mottola’s indie comedy Keeping Up With the Joneses. Pike will soon start filming Amma Asante’s A United Kingdom and later Cédric Jimenez’s World War II thriller HHHH. Rest assured, Don and Amy are doing just fabulous these days.
