The album marks the second non-official follow-up to last year’s excellent Salad Days. Just a few weeks ago, he dropped his surprise BBQ soundtrack, Some Other Ones. This new record, however, isn’t just a instrumental score. Instead, it dives deep into the slack-rocker’s emotional insecurities, with songs like “A Heart Like Hers” and “The Way You’d Love Her” seeing him express his desire for an unrequited love.
But for all the heartbreak abounding on the record, the real surprise comes on the closing number, “My House by the Water”. As the instruments fade down, DeMarco delivers his home address and invites you, dear listener, over for a cup of coffee. According to reports, that’s really his address, and he’ll really brew you a cup of joe if you stop by.
