It’s taken eight goddamn years, but Todd Haynes finally has a follow-up to 2007’s experimental “Bob Dylan biopic,” I’m Not There. Come November 20th, the veteran 54-year-old filmmaker will return with Carol.
Starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, the story winds the clock back to the 1950s and follows the love affair between a Manhattan department store clerk named Therese Belivet (Mara) and a wife in a loveless marriage named Carol (Blanchett).
Emmy-nominated screenwriter Phyllis Nagy adapted the story from Patricia Highsmith’s 1952 novel, The Price of Salt. Also starring is Sarah Paulson, Jake Lacy, Carrie Brownstein (!), and Coach Taylor himself, Mr. Kyle Chandler.
