In addition to a new album of club-ready tracks in Why Make Sense?, British electronic outfit Hot Chip has given its fans some exciting covers this year. Back in June, they hit the lights and tackled Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark”. This week, while playing at New York’s Webster Hall, the band whipped out a cover of the LCD Soundsystem staple “All My Friends”.
The whole affair was frantic, fun, and also featured special guests in DFA Records associate Sinkane and former LCD member Nancy Whang. If only James Murphy had stopped by; after all, he’s only a subway ride away. Watch fan-caught footage of the performance below.
Update: Hot Chip performed a second show at Webster Hall on Wednesday night during which they brought David Byrne to the stage to perform “All My Friends” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark”.
Hot Chip and LCD Soundsystem are hardly strangers. Al Doyle is a member of both bands; plus, they’ve both lit up the dance floor together a number of times before.
In related LCD news, Ezra Furman turned in an acoustic version of “I Can Change” today. Check that out here.
