Christopher the Conquered is prepping a new album, I’m Giving Up on Rock & Roll, due out later this year through Maximum Ames Records. The Iowa singer-songwriter — who counts John Lennon and The Mountain Goats as influences and has the backing of Ryan Adams — has previewed the full-length with a pair of songs.

“What’s the Name of the Town?” is a cozy number led by jaunty piano and the songwriter’s raspy voice; meanwhile, the title track plays out like a glam rock ballad à la Elton John or Queen, complete with soaring, gospel backup vocals and rich saxophone. Check out both below.

Pre-orders for the album can be made here.
