Peaches and Kim Gordon battle Lucha VaVOOM in video for “Close Up” — watch

on August 18, 2015, 1:02pm

For her first album in six years, Rub, Peaches called on quite a lineup of friends. Kim Gordon joins the electro-pop icon for the LP’s latest single, “Close Up”, sing-speaking the hook over the track’s dirty hip-hop dance beat. For the song’s video, the pair are joined by an even grander cast of characters.

Gordon acts as Peaches’ trainer as she preps to battle the wrestling weirdos of Lucha VaVOOM, a show that’s part Lochadore wrestling, part burlesque show. Peaches holds her own in the ring against such foes as Cassandro and Dirty Sanchez, whose schtick is that he actually gives people dirty sanchezes. (Don’t worry, it’s just chocolate… I think.) Her final bout sees her going up against a quartet of lady Luchadores, one who happens to be lactating, but the outcome isn’t exactly what Coach Gordon was hoping for.

“I’m fascinated by Lucha VaVOOM, the work they do,” Peaches explains in a press release,
and by classic bro movies like Rocky; the relationships between coach and student and between men and their sports. For ‘Close Up’, I wanted to combine the two, adding some little twists.”

Rub arrives September 25th via I U She/INgrooves.
