With just a debut album under their belt, Bully already have a reputation as a band with acute lyricism and almost uncomfortable levels of candidness. But the CoSigned Nashville quartet know how to play indifferent and sarcastic just as well, as demonstrated in the video for Feels Like standout “Too Tough”.
The clip sees the band “performing” in a suburban house with little care if the other people milling about are actually listening. Drummer Stewart Copeland gives up altogether at one point. Elsewhere, frontwoman Alicia Bognanno does her best to not look terribly bored at a photo shoot. In fact, the only place the band seems to show any real levels of happiness is when they’re playing fetch with their dog.
“Ever since the record has come out, I am constantly being asked about the intensity and honesty of the lyrics and whether or not I regret putting them out there, Bognanno told NPR, who premiered the clip. “This video is a friendly reminder that, yes, obviously we care, but we don’t need to be taken so seriously 100% of the time.”
