A plane crash on the set of Tom Cruise’s new movie Mena killed two and severely injured another, according to Variety.
American film pilot Alan David Purwin and Colombian Carlos Berl both perished in the crash, which occurred Friday night in Medellin, Colombia. Another American pilot, Jimmy Lee Garland, remains hospitalized in Medellin.
Ironically, Purwin was recently featured in Variety‘s Artisans video series in a segment about the dangers of aerial photography. Watch below.
Mena, which stars Cruise as a pilot who works for the CIA and as a drug runner in the south during the 1980s, is slated to hit theaters on January 6th, 2017. It’s unclear how the crash will affect the film’s production going forward.
