The end of summer doesn’t have to mean the end of dancing like an idiot on rooftops. To that end, Consequence of Sound is proud to announce a new partnership with Corona Electric Beach this Saturday, September 5th, featuring DJ sets from MOTHXR, French Horn Rebellion, and Julian Cavin at Azul, the swanky rooftop of the Hotel Hugo in NYC’s Hudson Square.
Besides (duh) Corona and Caribbean-inspired cocktails to be sipped while taking in massive views of Manhattan and the Hudson via wraparound glass railings, there will be, of course, music. Headlining is Brooklyn’s Mothxr, known for chilled-out, cinematic beats and moody synth pop tailor made for boozing in the sun. Band members include Jimmy Giannopoulos (member of Reputante, signed to Julian Casablancas’ Cult Records, who also plays in Lolawolf with Zoë Kravitz) and Penn Badgley of Gossip Girl, who also plays Jeff Buckley in the biopic Greetings From Tim Buckley.
Also getting the party started will be French Horn Rebellion, whose unavoidably dancey, disco-infused music is much more upbeat, poppy, and tongue-in-cheek than the French horns and bassoons they ditched before forming the Brooklyn-based electro rock group. Comprised of two brothers from Milwaukee, they’ve played with everyone from MGMT to Cut Copy and also produced MGMT’s debut EP after leaving the Chicago Civic Orchestra because it wasn’t any fun.
So if you need a last gasp of summer, you should RSVP here.
