Black Sabbath scrap plans for final album

on October 28, 2015, 2:40pm

In January, founding members Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, and Tony Iommi will hit the road together for one final world tour as  Black Sabbath. The band’s farewell will not include a new album, however.

According to Nola.com, Osbourne has ruled out a follow-up to 2013’s 13: “It’s the end of Sabbath, believe me … In December, I’ll be fuckin’ 68 and I think it’s time to call it the end of the day. I’m not saying I won’t get on stage with Geezer or Tony (Iommi) or any of them some time, but officially we’re going to be done.”

Osbourne’s comments run counter to ones he made last September. At the time, he said the band planned to reunite with 13 producer Rick Rubin for one final LP. It’s unclear what caused Sabbath to abandon the idea, though Osbourne previously mentioned 13 being a struggle to make due to creative differences amongst band members.
