2015 has been a year of wins for Drake. He’s released two chart-topping records with If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late and What A Time to Be Alive (with a third said to be on the way); became only the fourth artist ever to have 100 singles chart on the Billboard 100; emerged victorious in a feud with Meek Mill; and headlined Coachella. Now, he’s got a new remix to brag about, courtesy of R&B legend Erykah Badu.
Badu has given her own spin to the Toronto rapper’s recent hit “Hotline Bling”, appropriately changing the name to “HOTLINE BLING BUT U CAINT USE MY PHONE MIX”. Co-written by Seven Benjamin, Badu’s son with André 3000, the mother-and-son team flip Drake’s ode to late night hookups by changing the perspective of the woman on the other side of the call. Badu’s voice feels radiant over the bubbly beat, cooly cooing on the infectious chorus. She also displays her keen sense of humor with an operator-themed spoken interlude, stoically dropping quips like, “If you’re calling to beg for some shit in general, press 4.”

“HOTLINE BLING BUT U CAINT USE MY PHONE MIX” will reportedly appear on Badu’s upcoming mixtape, BUT U CAINT USE MY PHONE.
