Most of the videos in support of How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful find Florence and the Machine facing off against some kind of evil entity, whether it’s a doomed relationship (“Ship to Wreck”) or a bloodthirsty mob (“Queen of Peace”/”Long & Lost”). The new clip for “Delilah” is no different.
Directed by Vincent Haycock (who helmed all the aforementioned visuals), it sees frontwoman Florence Welch darting into various motel rooms and undergoing intense — and intensely choreographed — religious experiences, as though she’s fending off a demonic possession. At one point, she’s nearly touched by a frightening goblin-like character. Watch the unnerving clip below.
Each How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful video is a new installment in the band’s so-called “Odyssey” series; “Delilah” marks the sixth chapter.
How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, which was recently shortlisted for the UK’s prestigious Mercury Prize, is out now.
