On his first album in 30 years, June’s Déjà Vu, disco legend Giorgio Moroder joined forces with likeminded dance/pop bigwigs such as Sia, Charli XCX, Kylie Minogue, and Britney Spears. His latest project, however, sees him working with an act that’s completely out of his wheelhouse: My Morning Jacket.
While both artists seem to exist worlds apart, Moroder, using his ear for dance floor earworms, is able to flip the psychedelic rock outfit’s “Compound Fracture” single into a throbbing jam worthy of the clubs. It’s actually a little uncanny how frontman Jim James’ airy vocals suit the rework so well. Who knew? Listen in below.
“Compound Fracture” is off My Morning Jacket’s latest LP, The Waterfall.
