Hail to the king, baby: Starz is giving some more sugar to Ash Vs. Evil Dead. Four days ahead of the show’s Halloween premiere, the network has committed to another 10-episode season for next year.
“One season isn’t enough to satisfy the fans’ two decade-long appetite for more Ash,” says Starz managing director Carmi Zlotnik. “The early fan and press support, along with the international broadcaster demand for more story have made it clear that the adventures of Ash Williams can’t end with season one.”
Bruce Campbell returns as the boomstick-slinging, chainsaw-wielding anti-hero Ash Williams, picking up 30 years after the events of the original horror franchise. Sam Raimi returned to direct the pilot from a script he wrote with his older brother Ivan and veteran TV scribe Tom Spezialy. He’ll serve as the series’ executive producer alongside Robert Tapert.
Check out the show’s hilarious first four minutes below — it’s a solid preview of the overall tone. Speaking of which, if any of you primitive screw-heads are interested in following the series weekly, I’ll be recapping each episode for the fine folks over at The A.V. Club. So, you know … come get some.
