TIDAL X: 10/20, the charity concert celebrating TIDAL’s one millionth subscriber, took place at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Tuesday night. The show boasted a bill anchored by the likes of Beyoncé, Jay Z, Nicki Minaj, and Usher, among others, with all proceeds benefitting various nonprofit organizations and grassroots movements dedicated to improving communities and fighting systemic and social injustices.
Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which is filming in New York City all week, played a part in the festivities last night. First, the late-night host interviewed Jay Z, a TIDAL equity stockholder, about the streaming service and benefit show. Then, Kimmel aired two special moments from the concert: Jay Z’s rousing, homecoming performance of “Empire State of Mind”, and the live debut of “Chains”, Usher’s new song addressing police brutality featuring Nas and Bibi Bourelly.
Below, watch both performances, followed by Kimmel’s interview with Jay Z.
