Kendrick Lamar has proven he can get political and powerful not only with his lyrics, but also his videos. Such was the case in “Alright”. But K.Dot has himself a silly side, as well, and it’s on full display in the just-released clip for his To Pimp a Butterfly cut “These Walls”.
Set up as a story told by an inmate, the video opens with an impressive tracking shot through a party house with girls dancing everywhere, including up on Kendrick. About two-and-a-half minutes in, the tale switches up and suddenly we’re in a car with a very irate Terry Crews. In a flashback, we get to experience the best broke-down talent show ever, where Crews and K.Dot bring the sparse crowd to its feet with their burning hot dance moves.
It’s not exactly clear where that detour will lead, but the end of the Colin Tilley-directed video does promise that it’s “To be continued…” Check out what appears to be part one below.
