Lady Gaga and Nile Rodgers rework Chic’s “I Want Your Love” — listen

Fashion icon Tom Ford was looking to do something a little atypical with his fall line this season. Instead of a typical runway show, he sought to design a presentation specifically for online distribution. And in today’s world, nothing is more plugged in than a modern pop star nostalgically reworking a classic song, so Ford tapped Lady Gaga to modernize Chic’s 1979 hit “I Want Your Love”. But this cover goes a step further than your average remake, as Gaga teamed with Chic founder Nile Rodgers himself on the track.

Together, Gaga and Rodgers give the disco hit a tasteful dose of present-day pop. The shuffling rhythm is upped to a sparkling tempo just right for Ford’s Soul Train-inspired runway video. In the clip, models dance down the aisles over a glowing catwalk, joined by Gaga herself as she struts her stuff and helps show of Ford’s new line. Check out the video and song below, and revisit Chic’s original version for comparison.
