“Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.” It’s an inscription known well to comic diehards and Marvel movie fans alike. As proven time and time again in the Thor and Avengers films, it takes a godly amount of worth to lift Thor’s hammer, the mighty Mjölnir. Heck, even Captain America could barely make it wiggle.
In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Tony Stark jokes that it’s really “whosoever is carrying Thor’s fingerprints” that determines who can lift the hammer. Of course, (spoiler) Vision proves this theory wrong in the end, but one super fan has taken Stark’s suggestion to heart. The folks behind YouTube channel Sufficiently Advanced (via Hitfix) created a Mjölnir replicate that can only be lifted by the man who designed it. The trick is an electromagnetic deactivated by a little fingerprint scanner on the handle, something amazingly few people noticed when he took it to Venice Beach. Folks yanked and pulled and grunted, but almost everyone came up unworthy. Some people did actually notice the scanner, but only one guy had the vision (pun!) to figure out a workaround.
