Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? theme song band reunite — watch

on October 26, 2015, 2:32pm

Geography never came easy to me when I was growing up, that is until my parents plopped me down in front of the TV and had me watch PBS’ crime-fighting, kid-friendly godsend, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?. The ’90s program, which was based on the equally popular Carmen Sandiego computer game, combined funny jokes, game show competition, and a darn catchy theme song to not only win over the flighty attention spans of children like me, but actually teach useful things (Italy is in the shape of boot and it’s always kicking Sicily, guys!).

Both the game and TV show are celebrating big anniversaries this year — their 30th and 24th, respectively — and what better way to commemorate the occasion than by staging a mini reunion of sorts. Thanks to Mashable, Rockapella, the series’ in-house band and a capella group behind the series’ song, came together recently to sing the classic theme one last time. Elsewhere in their feature for Mashable, they also reveal the inspiration behind the original tune (hint: think Jane’s Addiction).

Yes, it’s a wave of nostalgia, and yes, it will feel good and have you hankering for those days of yore when trapper keepers and Lisa Frank folders ruled the stationary game and chasing after Carmen Sandiego was a much anticipated daily adventure.

Check out the reunion clip below,

PS. How long before the game/show is made into a movie? 3 … 2 … 1 …

PPS. For #throwback kicks, why not watch an episode and brush up on your map skills:
