Friday Night Lives is a television series adapted from a movie adapted from a book. Now, the story of Coach Taylor and his Dillon Lions is being adapted for the theater, as TVLine points out.
The Unauthorized Friday Night Lights Musical will stage next year in Los Angeles. Jordan Ross and Lindsey Rosin, who previously helmed unauthorized musical adaptations of The O.C. and Cruel Intentions, are behind this new production.
They’ve already cast the role of Coach Eric Taylor, and it’s a familiar face. Scott Porter, who portrayed quarterback Jason Street in the TV series, will now get a chance to do Kyle Chandler proud.
Porter shared the news via a Dubsmash video:
If they’re going to keep it in the FNL family, perhaps Julie Taylor can play her mother? Then again, I’d love to see Amy Schumer get an actual crack at it.
Either way, clear eyes, full lungs, can’t lose.
