Did Tool just debut music from their first album in 10 years?

on November 02, 2015, 8:56pm

Despite the recent hoopla regarding Maynard James Keenan’s commitment (or lack there of) for Tool, the band apparently remains at work on a new album, their first in over a decade. During their Halloween set at Tempe’s Monster Mash, they provided a possible preview of what’s to come with the debut of an instrumental track which some fans have dubbed, “Descending”. Footage of the performance has finally emerged online and can be seen below.

As Maynard James Keenan typically waits toward the end of the recording process to add lyrics, it’s certainly possible we’ll hear these riffs on the follow-up to 2006’s 10,000 Days — that’s if it ever does see release.

During that same performance, their only one scheduled for 2015, Tool dressed as Led Zeppelin and covered “No Quarter”.
