Jessica Jones is a hard-drinking, short-fused, mess of a woman in new Netflix trailer — watch

on November 10, 2015, 12:05pm

With just 10 days to go before Jessica Jones premieres on Netflix, Marvel has released the final trailer for its latest streaming series. Like Daredevil before it, this new show takes place in the world of Marvel’s Avengers and continues to build up what will eventually become the Defenders (Daredevil, Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist).

Like the previous preview, the trailer sets the stage for a character haunted and hunted by a twisted villain from her past. The beginning focuses on Jones’ (Krysten Ritter) relationship with Cage (Mike Colter), a bartender she flirts with at the local watering hole before saving his butt from some unruly customers. From there, we’re given more hints at the main villain, Killgrave (David Tennant), specifically his history and obsession with Jones. We’re also given our first clear shot of the bad guy, revealing a purple suit sure to please fans of the comics, where Killgrave goes by the alias The Purple Man.

There’s also more of Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker (aka Patricia “Pasty” Walker, aka Hellcat from the comics) and Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeryn Hogarth (a male lawyer in the comics who works closely with Cage and Iron Fist). The whole thing establishes Jones as “a hard-drinking, short-fused, mess of a woman,” and someone you wouldn’t want to catch on a bad day. Check out the trailer below.

With all 13 episodes premiering on Netflix on November 20th, the series also stars Eka Darville (as Malcolm), Erin Moriarty (as Hope), and Wil Traval (as Will Simpson). Find the official synopsis below.

“Ever since her short-lived stint as a Super Hero ended in tragedy, Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) has been rebuilding her personal life and career as a hot-tempered, sardonic, badass private detective in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. Plagued by self-loathing, and a wicked case of PTSD, Jessica battles demons from within and without, using her extraordinary abilities as an unlikely champion for those in need … especially if they’re willing to cut her a check.”
