The New Tarot shares brassy new single “Tell Me You Like Me” — listen

on November 05, 2015, 11:20am

For a band that started in a subway station, Brooklyn’s The New Tarot has acclimated to the spotlight quite nicely. Since releasing their self-titled debut EP in 2014, sisters Monika (vocals/guitar) and Karen (vocals/keyboard) Walker have charmed crowds across New York City with their hard-rocking brand of synthpop. The duo just released sophomore EP Stella! in October, so it comes as a surprise that they’ve already got a new single to premiere.

Not that we’re complaining. “Tell Me You Like Me” is a brassy, irresistible romp that shows exactly why these ladies are no longer playing for loose change. A horn section holds down the melody as Monika flexes her way through lyrics that point out how social media has made narcissists of us all. “Pop culture and romance can be healthy,” she explains, “but I think more and more people use social media and vapid relationships to fill surface voids in their ego.” Fill the void in your ears by listening to the track below.
