First Lady Michelle Obama just dropped her first rap track

on December 10, 2015, 3:05pm

Michelle Obama has spent her time as First Lady working hard for the well-being of our nation’s youth, whether that be fighting obesity or encouraging education. Her Better Make Room and Reach Higher campaigns seek to promote post-high school education, and she’s hit upon a fresh way to connect with the pre-collegiant crowd: hip-hop.

Obama has teamed with College Humor and Saturday Night Live cast member Jay Pharoah for a new rap video called “Go to College”. Together, Pharoah and FLOTUS espouse the perks of getting a university education with choruses like, “If you wanna fly jets/ You should go to college/ Reach high and cash checks/ Fill your head with knowledge.” As the pair wild out through the White House, Obama even gets her own verse. “South Side Chicago, we all know,” spits FLOTUS. “We had to do overtime every night to make it tomorrow.”

Check out the full video below, and get those college applications ready.

In related news, President Obama — whose favorite song of the year was Kendrick Lamar’s “How Much a Dollar Cost” — recently collaborated with Coldplay for a track on their new album.
