The script comes from Joel and Ethan Coen, with whom Clooney recently worked with on Hail, Caesar!. Josh Brolin is also in that film, and is one of three actors who are closing in on deals for Suburbicon. Julianne Moore, who starred in the Clooney-produced Far from Heaven and the Coen Brothers classic The Big Lebowski, is said to be a favorite for the female lead. Meanwhile, Clooney’s Ocean’s Eleven trilogy cohort and co-star in his self-directed The Monuments Men Matt Damon is the last piece of the puzzle.
Not much is known about what Suburbicon is about, though it’s said to be a ’50s crime drama with a Blood Simple vibe. Clooney has plenty of time to lock down his cast, as production isn’t slated to being until October 2016, with a likely 2017 festival season debut in the cards. Still, with names like this attached, anticipation is no doubt already high.
