Let’s get ready to rumble, true believers: The highly anticipated trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse is here.
Oscar Isaac plays Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant known to man. Well, he’s woken up after thousands of years and pretty much hates the world, which means T-R-O-U-B-L-E for our Professor X and his school of misfit youths.
“I saw the end of the world,” Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) tells Xavier (James McAvoy), “I could feel all of this death.” She’s not kidding; Apocalypse not only wants to stir up shit, but can also control every mutant, even the disabled psychic.
Throughout the two-and-half-minute clip, you see glimpses of several returning and new heroes, from Evan Peters’ Quicksilver and Rose Byrne’s Moira MacTaggert to Olivia Munn’s Psylocke and Lana Condor’s Jubilee. It’s a blast, no pun intended.
Towards the end, Xavier’s eyes go real, real dark, insinuating he’s not who he appears to be anymore, as he stammers and spits, saying: “I’ve never felt power like this before.” Odds are he’s gonna be okay.
Directed by Bryan Singer and written by Simon Kinberg, X-Men: Apocalypse stars the aforementioned alongside Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Lucas Till, Josh Helman, and Ben Hardy. The film hits theaters May 27th, 2016.
