During their first interview following the Paris Bataclan terror attacks, Eagles of Death Metal sent out the request for bands to cover their track “I Love You All the Time”. The goal is that all publishing earnings accrued from the performance or sale of the cover would be donated to the victims. Since then, bands from My Morning Jacket to The Dean Ween Group have been turning in covers all over the world. Last night, Savages delivered their version in the most fitting of locations: Paris itself.
As video of the performance shows, the band was in the midst of their set at La Maroquinerie when they stopped to speak to the crowd. Though a translation of what frontwoman Jehnny Beth said wasn’t readily available, it’s clear from the crowd’s cheering, applauding reaction that she tapped into the city’s strength. The applause went on for a solid 40 seconds before Savages dove into the moody rendition of “I Love You All the Time”. Check out stage-shot video of the entire thing below.
