The Kinks’ Ray and Dave Davies reunite on-stage after 20 years

on December 19, 2015, 11:25am

Last night bore witness to a long-sought-after Kinks reunion as brothers Ray and Dave Davies shared the stage for the first time in two decades. During Dave’s concert at Assembly Hall in North London, he brought out Ray to perform The Kinks staple “You Really Got Me”. Watch fan-shot footage below.

The Kinks formally broke up in 1996 and the two brother spent the subsequent years trashing each other in the press. Dave said Ray had been doing “karaoke Kinks shows since 1996,” while Ray described his brother as “totally unpredictable.” However, in recent years, the brothers appeared more open to a reunion, spurred on by the band’s 50th anniversary and a forthcoming biopic from Julien Temple.

Whether or not last night’s events will lead to a full-fledge reunion remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure: If The Kinks were to reunite, it’d sure as hell shake up the music festival circuit.
