Tina Fey is a “shameless whore” of a reporter in the trailer for Whiskey Tango Foxtrot — watch

on December 17, 2015, 3:35pm

Tina Fey stars in comedy war film Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, where she plays a ProPublica reporter covering the Middle East. Directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Crazy, Stupid, Love), the movie is based on the 2011 memoir The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan, written by Chicago Tribune journalist Kim Barker.

A synopsis for the book reads:

“When Kim Barker first arrived in Kabul as a journalist in 2002, she barely owned a passport, spoke only English and had little idea how to do the “Taliban Shuffle” between Afghanistan and Pakistan. No matter—her stories about Islamic militants and shaky reconstruction were soon overshadowed by the bigger news in Iraq. But as she delved deeper into Pakistan and Afghanistan, her love for the hapless countries grew, along with her fear for their future stability. In this darkly comic and unsparing memoir, Barker uses her wry, incisive voice to expose the absurdities and tragedies of the “forgotten war,” finding humor and humanity amid the rubble and heartbreak.”

Ahead of its March 4th theatrical release comes its first trailer, which sees Fey’s character meeting with troops, learning how to shoot a gun, and butting heads with locals who call her a “shameless whore” for not dressing appropriately. (It’s all handled rather awkwardly, of course.) Watch below.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot also stars Billy Bob Thornton, Alfred Molina, and Margot Robbie.

In related news, Fey’s upcoming flick with Amy Poehler, Sisters, hits theaters tomorrow. She and Poehler will host Saturday Night Live this weekend.
