Before he was in Star Wars, John Boyega was a stock photos model

People use stock photo agencies like Getty Images all the time, so it’s not so surprising that the students in University of Nebraska Lincoln’s new advertisements for their career assistance program don’t really attend the college. However, the University may want to be a bit weary of giving students the false hope that they too could one day fight with the Resistance in a galaxy far, far away.

That’s the impression some students might be getting as they’ve noticed a familiar face on the new posters. Right there in the middle of a row of five students is none other than Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Finn, John Boyega. The image quickly was put up on Imgur, and the validity was confirmed by the photographer himself, Chris Schmidt.

It turns out Boyega is featured in multiple images on Getty surrounded by the same group of teenagers. The actor himself got wind of the images popping up, and revealed he did what any other teenaged student would do with the few extra bucks he made: buy sneakers.

By the way, EMA stands for Education Maintenance Allowance, a small stipend paid to teenagers Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland who take part in unpaid work-based learning programs. The stipend wouldn’t be enough to pay for the latest Air Force 1s, so there’s no blaming Boyega for picking up the extra work.
