Spoon’s Britt Daniel covers George Harrison’s “I Me Mine” — watch

on January 29, 2016, 9:40am

On September 28th, 2014, a star-studded bill of artists, including Spoon frontman Britt Daniel, Brian Wilson, Norah Jones, and The Flaming Lips, came together for a special concert event honoring George Harrison. The event, which took place at Los Angeles’ Fonda Theater, was dubbed “George Fest: A Night To Celebrate the Music of George Harrison” and highlighted tracks like “Taxman”, “Here Comes the Sun”, and “Something”.

Next month, that momentous evening will be memorialized with a live album and concert film. Aptly titled George Fest: A Night To Celebrate the Music of George Harrison, it’s due out on February 26th — a day after what would have been the Beatles guitarist’s 76th birthday — via Hot Records Ltd./Vagrant Records.

As a preview of the tribute album/film, the official live video recording of Daniel’s “I Me Mine” cover has been revealed. During the concert, Daniel noted that the track was “his favorite” Harrison song, and his rollicking rendition reflects that sense of adoration.

Watch below.

Produced by David Zonshine and Dhani Harrison (Harrison’s son with wife Olivia Harrison), it will be available in four configurations: 2xCD/DVD, 2xCD/Blu-Ray, 3xLP (180 gram), and digital download. Pre-order it here.
