Violent Femmes are set to release their first album in 16 years, We Can Do Anything, on March 4th. Though the LP is a long time coming, a number of its songs actually date back nearly a decade ago and were pulled from frontman Gordon Gano’s “trove of old cassette demos and journals.”

Opening cut “Memory” is one such track that’s been unearthed and revamped for We Can Do Anything. “We even recorded it as a demo many years ago,” Gano told NPR of the rollicking number, which looks back on the past with equal parts annoyance and wistfulness. “And then it was forgotten about until digging into [our] archives, which led us to record it anew and release it.”
