Did Adele just sink Donald Trump’s presidential campaign?

on February 01, 2016, 11:03pm

Coming into Monday, Donald Trump was widely considered the favorite to win to the Republican Iowa Caucus, with polls giving him a five-point lead ahead of Ted Cruz. However, with 100% precincts now reporting, not only did Trump end up losing to Cruz — he barely beat Marco Rubio for second place.

The reason for Trump’s last-minute collapse? Would you believe me if I told you Adele might have had something to do with it? The UK songstress’ influence is unquestionable; aside from selling nearly eight million copies of her own album, her mere mimicking of a half-decade-old track can cause it to ascend the charts.

So perhaps it’s no coincidence that Trump’s poll numbers took a nose dive shortly after Adele publicly rebuked the Republican presidential candidate for the unauthorized use of her songs. Over the last few days, Trump has been playing Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” along with her theme to Skyfall at campaign rallies.

On Monday, hours before Iowans headed to caucus for their preferred presidential candidate, a representative for Adele issued a statement to The Independent saying, “Adele has not given permission for her music to be used for any political campaigning.”

For honest, hard-working Iowans, many of who fall in line with Adele’s primary demographic, Trump’s misappropriated playlist may have solidified his reputation as a deceitful and untrustworthy candidate willing to do anything and everything, even if it’s illegal, to capture the American presidency.

A vote for Trump is a vote against Adele, and Adele just beat Trump.
