Over the weekend, Eagles of Death Metal took the stage in Stockholm for their first concert since the Paris terror attacks last November. Last night marked a similarly momentous occasion, as the rock band returned to the French capital to perform for the survivors of that fateful November night, which left more than 80 attendees of EODM’s Bataclan show dead.

Though Bataclan isn’t set to reopen until later this year, the group — led by Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme — made it a point to show fortitude in the face of evil by not only hitting the road again, but by going back to the City of Light and performing at the local Olympia venue. Homme, who rarely performs live with the band, was on hand to play drums.

“We don’t really have a choice,” Homme said when recently asked whether EODM planned to reschedule their European tour after it was postponed in the wake of the brutal attacks. “Not only for ourselves and our fans, not only for [slain merch manager] Nick Alexander, not only because this is our way of life … it’s the human condition.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, on Tuesday evening, Hughes stood before an excited Olympia crowd and triumphantly declared, “Bonsoir Paris, we’re ready for this!” Later, between songs, he continued: “Peace, love and rock ‘n’ roll!”

Below, watch fan-footage of the concert, including performances of “Don’t Speak (I Came to Make a Bang!)”, a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Brown Sugar”, and “Speaking in Tongues”.
