Eaux Claires Music Festival, curated by Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and The National’s Aaron Dessner, has revealed its 2016 lineup.
Veron’s own Bon Iver tops this year’s bill alongside James Blake, Erykah Badu, Beach House, Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers performing The Way It Is, Vince Staples, and Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. Also of note is the first and only scheduled performance of Day of the Dead, an all-star cast of musicians from a soon to be released Grateful Dead compilation being put together by Aaron and Bryce Dessner.
The lineup also includes Mavis Staples, Jenny Lewis, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Phosphorescent, Jon Hopkins, Melvins, Deafheaven, Lucius, My Brightest Diamond, Shabazz Palaces, The Staves and yMusic, Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry and Sarah Neufeld, and a collaborative performance featuring Bryce Dessner, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, and the chamber music sextet eighth blackbird. Plus, Cornelius will return with a full performance of his 1997 album Fantasma.
Prior to today’s announcement, Vernon teased the lineup by sending pre-sale ticket holders a cassette tape containing music from some of this year’s acts (listen in full here). One track was attributed to Fall Creek Boys Choir, the one-time collaborative project of Vernon and Blake. However, it remains to be seen whether they’ll perform together at Eaux Claires.
Eaux Claires takes place August 12th and 13th at Foster Farm in Vernon’s hometown of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Tickets, which include the option to camp, go on sale Friday, February 12th at 10:00 a.m. CT.
