This summer, Almost Famous director Cameron Crowe will again give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the music industry with his new Showtime program Roadies. The comedy, the first original TV series for Crowe, focuses on the backstage crew of a fictional touring group called The Staton-House Band.
“Roadies gives an insider’s look at the reckless, romantic, funny and often poignant lives of a committed group of ‘roadies’ who live for music and the de facto family they’ve formed along the way,” a description for the show elaborates. “The music-infused ensemble comedy series chronicles the rock world through the eyes of music’s unsung heroes and puts the spotlight on the backstage workers who put the show on the road while touring the United States for a successful arena-level band.”
Crowe, who serves as creator, writer, director, and executive producer, is joined by executive producers J.J. Abrams and Winnie Holtzman. Luke Wilson (Old School, Enlightened), Carla Gugino (Watchmen, Spy Kids), and Imogen Poots (28 Weeks Later) have starring roles.
Ahead of its June 26th premiere date, Showtime has revealed the show’s first trailer. Soundtracked by Eddie Vedder’s cover of “Hard Sun”, the clip features some cutesy (cheesy?) bonding moments amongst the roadies. Watch below.
