Yoko Ono has been hospitalized for flu-like symptoms. At the advice of her doctor, the 83-year-old singer was admitted to New York’s Mount Sinai Roosevelt Hospital on Friday night.
A representative told The Associated Press that Ono is doing fine and will likely be released from the hospital on Saturday.
Initial reports suggested Ono had suffered a stroke. On Twitter, her son Sean Lennon wrote, “Hey guys it was only rumors from press: was NOT a stroke, just dehydration/tired. She is FINE. Thank you everyone for your concern,” adding, “Only stroke Yoko Ono had was a Stroke of Genius! 🙂 She’s really fine. Thanks for all the well wishes! Big Love, Sean.”
Last week Ono released her new album Yes, I’m A Witch Too, which included collaborations with Moby, Death Cab for Cutie, tUnE-yArDs, Peter Bjorn and John, Penguin Prison, Miike Snow, and Cibo Matto.
