There were a lot of sour spots in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but perhaps to the surprise of most, Ben Affleck as Batman wasn’t one of them. His grizzled take on the Dark Knight reportedly led Warner Bros. to call him “the definitive Batman”, with rumors circulating that Affleck would write and direct his own solo Bat film. Now, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Patrick Whitesell, the co-CEO of Affleck’s talent agency William Morris Endeavor, revealed that the script is already finished.
“There’s a script that he’s written that is a really cool [Batman] idea, so that’s out there as an option,” Whitesell said in the cover story interview. He was discussing how often Affleck would appear in the cape and cowl, noting that he’s currently only contracted for Justice League – Part 1 and 2.
Of course, footage has revealed that Affleck also cameos in Suicide Squad, but it’s unlikely that’s a very large role. Whitesell did not mention anything about the star stepping behind the camera for the potential film, though his track record as a director would certainly bode well for a standalone Batman movie.
