Gallant announces debut album, Ology, shares new songs “Bourbon” — listen

on March 02, 2016, 2:20pm

Gallant’s croon has been getting louder and louder over the last year. His impressive pipes have turned many ears towards LA with songs like the stunning “Talking in Your Sleep” and the simply knock-out “Weight in Gold”. After months of building hype, Gallant is finally ready to unleash his debut album, Ology, on April 6th via Mind Of A Genius.

In addition to “Weight in Gold”, the new LP will feature Gallant’s Jhené Aiko collaboration, “Skipping Stones”, and freshly revealed track “Bourbon”. The song may lack the Motown silkiness or the glittering drama of past singles, but its simple R&B beauty just goes to show how wide the range of the singer’s talent really is. There’s a classic, candle-lit ambiance here, like ’80s love-making music layered into warm, modern neo-soul production. Gallant’s vocals dip lower than we’ve heard him go before, though it’s not long before he’s singing towards the stars again. “‘Cause I loved in cold blood/ And got used to it,” he sings. “Angels say trust the detox/ But I’m shaking, I need it like bourbon in my coffee cup.”

Take a listen below.
